2022 News Round Up
As the end of the year approaches, let’s look back at Pattern’s 2022 highlights. It’s been a fantastic year with new customers, products, and platform advancements. Patterns team have enjoyed delivering embedded insurance solutions to our customers globally. Here are some of the highlights.
Customers and Connections
Customers and partnerships have grown around our embedded insurance platform, enabling insurance offerings globally.
Our Book Outdoors collaboration makes it easier for customers to confidently book outdoor travel by offering relevant and affordable travel insurance and weather protection products. BookOutdoors is finding it easy to offer combinations of relevant protections embedded directly into the purchase path.
In November, as part of our partnership with travel technology giant Amadeus we launched a product to enable UK Travel Agents to introduce bespoke covers in the selling process. Leading travel title Travolution covered this exciting development.
We finished the year with Endsleigh adding Students Winter Sports Cover to their existing Pattern travel insurance portfolio . Whether snowboarding, skiing, or simply enjoying the apres-ski, students are protected against damage to their equipment and can get a refund for unused ski passes in the event of illness and injury. Insurance Edge led the press coverage of this piece.
Product Innovation
We launched groundbreaking AI driven parametric weather protection insurance for the US travel market. With our weather insurance, we’re helping travelers protect their eagerly anticipated trips and help travel distributors who integrate weather protection into their buying journey to enjoy higher conversion rates, increased revenue and happier customers. Awards
Pattern started the year featuring in the DIA TOP 250 as the reference point for insurance decision-makers worldwide. Swiftly followed up by recognizing Pattern for our innovation in the TechRound Fintech 50.
Thought Leadership
Our co-founder, Noam Shapira’s episode of the Leadership in Insurance Podcast hosted by Alex Bond is one of the most watched of 2022. Watch it now. Embedded insurance was a buzz term in 2022, and this broadcast covers the key factors driving the rise in embedded insurance.
Louise Robertson, our Global Marketing Director, was featured on the Disrupters interview series on the Financial Services Forum. Louise discusses building trust around a new brand and why branding is so important in the insurance sector. You can listen to the four-episode interview series here.
An ‘eventful’ 2022
2022 saw the rebirth of face-to-face events at PhocusWright Europe, where our CEO and co-founder, Meitav Harpaz and Noam Shapira spoke at industry roundtables discussing changing behaviors and sentiments. Noam noted that uncertainty is the only thing that’s certain with travel. However, embedding relevant, personalized insurance in the user journey reassures today’s travelers and helps increase consumer confidence and secure bookings. Read some of our takeaways here.
In Autumn, our Head of Underwriting, Joyce Segall, attended InsureTech Connect (ITC) Vegas with Meitav. A few short weeks later, at the ITIC Global conference in Athens. Noam shared his knowledge on the conference’s travel and assistance stage, ‘The Evolution of Embedded Insurance”.
The 2022 event calendar was rounded off by attending the Phocuswright Conference in Arizona. This year’s theme from the world’s leading travel industry research authority was ‘Travelers, Titans and Trailblazers’. You can read more about the event here.
New Team Members
Ido Hertz, joined as VP of Products, from Agoda, where as Head of International Travel Recovery Products, he spearheaded company-wide initiatives and addressed the changing needs of travelers during the pandemic. He is bringing new innovation to Pattern, working with us to reshape the future of insurance and travel in a new exciting way. Ido will be on stage early next year at Vienna’s Annual Travel Insurance Forum.
Joyce Segall joined as the new Head of Underwriting. Joyce’s new role has a global reach; she uses her knowledge in ideating, developing, and implementing new and enhanced insurance products and services to assist partners in creating protections that give lasting value, customer loyalty and ancillary revenue.

We built the only product in the market that continuously works for you to optimize conversions while giving you complete control of the propositions. We’ve made great progress with our platform in 2022. In 2023 we are going all out, bringing you more products to sell, better-personalized offers, a LOT more insights and simplified UI, amongst other things. It is going to be amazing!
